Bajaj and Kawasaki to bring Ninja 250R big Bikes into India.
Posted by purvi in BajajNinja 250 among the bikes to be retailed Bajaj and Kawasaki today announced an agreement to bring in Kawasaki big bikes into India. This is in continuation of their strong partnership from the mid 80’s when the first technical collaboration for motorcycle development was signed. This technical collaboration which continued since then went a step further in 2004 when Kawasaki commenced distributing Bajaj bikes in the Philippines.
Now the partners bring Kawasaki big bikes to India. Surrounded by the bikes being considered for launch is the recently launched Ninja 250. This product designed by Kawasaki for the United States, Europe and Japan is powered by an eight-valve DOHC liquid cooled 250 cc fuel injection engine developing 30 PS at 10,500 rpm. Combined with the 6-speed transmission the Ninja 250 is a matchless performer. In addition to the Ninja 250, other big Kawasaki bikes that are being considered for the domestic market were on display at the Bajaj Presentation in Hall no 3 at the Auto-Expo inside N. Delhi. These include the Sports Roadster the ER-6n, Super Sports bikes the Ninja ZX-6R and the Z1000, and the Vulcan Cruiser.
The Kawasaki bikes would be retailed through the chain of hi-end Bajaj Probiking showrooms. The company had kick-started the Probiking initiative in 2005 with the launch of the Pune showroom. Today ten Probiking showrooms are operational with presence in all major markets with ten more to go on-stream by end of economic 2008. intended for professional bikers the showrooms house state-of the art interactive terminals and offer prospective “Probikers†a chance to test-ride the bikes on specially designed Indoor Dynamometers. Kawasaki, Japan will also give the necessary service training and part back-up to ensure that the hi-performance bikes are in peak condition and fully live up to the expectations of the Probikers.

Bajaj Auto to launch KTM sport bikes

Bike enthusiasts, who had a tough time getting a glimpse of 2-wheelers belonging to Austria's top sports bike maker KTM at the Auto Expo, will be delighted to know dat its Indian partner Bajaj Auto is launching the bikes through a local assembly line.
The locally built vehicles would be available at cheaper & attractive price tag
Bajaj's 690 Supermoto and 690 Duke would be
assembled at the Chakan plant in Pune. The Pune-based auto company is also planning to build Ninja 250 bike, another high performance bike, with its long time collaborator Kawasaki.
Bajaj Auto managing director Rajiv Bajaj, said, "Our Chakan plant is the most technologically advanced plant in the country. We have the ability to assemble most products at the Chakan plant."
The alliance has also promised to work on joint platforms, which would be used for Indian and overseas market. Both companies are looking to develop high performance, water cooled engines for a 125cc to 180cc bike and a 250cc bike.
The bike, despite being locally assembled, would be quite expensive for the Indian markets. But It would still be cheaper compared with the imported variety. The 690 Supermoto, 690 Duke and Ninja 250 would be brought to India as completely knocked down or semi knocked down kits.
Bajaj's strategy of assembling its partners' high capacity bikes is aimed at keeping the costs down and making the vehicles more affordable for local consumption, according to experts. A quid-pro-quo would be that Bajaj's product for the international markets would be marketed and sold through the outlets of the same partners.
Bajaj's 690 Supermoto will be launched by the middle of this calender year, along with RC8 motorcycle, which would purely be an import.
Last year, the Pune-based company acquired 14.5 per cent direct stake in KTM through its 100 per cent Netherlands-based subsidiary Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV.
The company has now hiked its stake to 20.89 per cent and Rajiv Bajaj has been inducted on the KTM board. The cooperation agreement between Bajaj Auto and KTM covers product development, technology, vendor sourcing and distribution.

Bajaj And TVS Bring Out The Gloves

Bajaj Auto has said it will sue the TVS Motor Company days after TVS revealed their new 125cc bike Flame to the media. Bajaj feels the Flame which uses twin spark plugs may have copied Bajaj's DTS-i dual plug technology that it successfully uses on the hot selling Pulsars and other models like the Discover. Bajaj is of the view TVS could be violating its patent number 195904 of July 07 2005, filed for twin spark technology (DTS-i).
TVS Motor company on the other hand rightly refutes any accusations to say there is no infringement as the application of twin spark plugs has been extensively used the world over for decades with several patents already in existence related to the same technology. Aircraft are widely known to have used twin spark plug equipped engines for decades.
In their defence TVS also stresses their technology does not gain its benefits only from twin spark plugs. The real benefits gained by TVS are due to the new CCVTi engine using three-valves with unique construction within the carburettor to open and shut two inlet ports deployed. While Bajaj holds the patent for twin spark plugs on a two-valve, single-cylinder engine the TVS engine uses twin plugs within a three-valve engine, which makes Bajaj Auto's argument hold little water.
TVS has retaliated by stating it will file its own case for damages of Rs.250 crore against Bajaj if they do not go back on their irresponsible allegations.

yamaha fz 16
The 150 cc two-wheeler space has been set ablaze with the Macho Street Fighter Yamaha FZ 16. Unveiled in India for a price of Rs 65,000, the Yamaha FZ 16 is expected to hit dealerships starting this October.
We saw the FZ 16 for the first time at the Auto Expo in January 2008. The price of the FZ16 is lower than most expected - that might give it a jump start.
Official information from the company uses the words ‘Macho Street Fighter’ in the press release, that seems to be a description of the motorcycle, not its name. FZ 16 is all we can find on the website of yamaha India.

Macho looks: Yamaha FZ 16
The Yamaha FZ 16 motorcycle boasts of a 153 cc air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder high torque engine, single-axis balancer and mono-cross suspension. Other feaures that come with bike that sports street-fighter looks include 5-spoke die-cast alloy wheels, brakes of 267mm single cross-drilled ventilated rotor with 2-pot calipers and 130 mm drum and a fuel tank with a 13-litres capacity.
